“Rebirth Reveals Poster, Cast, Staff”

Netflix has released a new poster for the Gamera: Rebirth anime, featuring the titular kaiju and a Gyaos flying overhead.

The staff and cast for the 3DCG show were also announced. Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia) is directing Gamera: Rebirth with Keisuke Ide (Levius director) as assistant director, Atsushi Tamura (Weathering With You c-character designer) as character designer, Kouji (Knights of Sidonia) as animation director, Kan Takahama as kaiju designer, and Takehiko Hoashi (Levius) as mechanical designer. Kenta Ihara (Handyman Saitou in Another World), Hiroshi Seko (Summer Time Rendering), and Seshita are serving as series composers. ENGI is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Hisako Kanemoto as Boko, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Joe, Aki Toyosaki as Junichi, and Subaru Kimura as Brody.

Gamera: Rebirth will be a six-episode series that sees Gamera battling five kaiju.

The turtle-like monster made its first appearance in the 1965 tokusatsu film Gamera the Giant Monster. The film was produced by Daiei, which fell under the Kadokawa Group’s management in 2002. Following a name change and “renewal” in 2004 and a 2011 merger with Kadokawa Shoten, Daiei split off from Kadokawa Shoten in 2013 and became Kadokawa Daiei Studio.

ENGI was co-founded by Kadokawa, with Kadokawa being the main shareholder.
