#REBEL 3199 Part 1 Releases Main Visual & PV Trailer

A new main key visual and trailer have been released for the upcoming first chapter of Be Forever Yamato: REBEL 3199. The 26-episode anime series will premiere as seven films in Japan, beginning with the first part titled “Kuro no Shinryaku” on July 19, 2024. 

According to the anime’s Blu-ray & DVD release, the first part will comprise the series’ first two episodes, totaling 50 minutes.

Naomichi Yamato (Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!! assistant director) is directing the REBEL3199 anime project, with Harutoshi Fukui (Space Battleship Yamato 2205, Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202) as screenwriter and co-scriptwriter. Fukui is also credited as chief director, with Studio MOTHER as the main animation production company and Satelight providing production assistance.

Be Forever Yamato: REBEL 3199 is a new sequel project to the Uchu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kōsho -STASHA- film, which debuted in Japan in February 2022. Be Forever Yamato is also the title of the 1980 sequel to the original Yamato anime series. However, the 1980 film’s story is not set in the year 3199. 

The original Space Battleship Yamato TV series aired in Japan from 1974 to 1975 and inspired several sequel series and movies. The remake anime series began with the 2012-2013 Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199, describing the synopsis of the remake as:

The power-hungry Gamilas have taken over Earth, and only a distant planet has the key to save humans from extinction. Granted the schematics of a high-powered engine, the Space Battleship Yamato is built to traverse the galaxy and retrieve hope for their survival. Battling extraterrestrial forces along the way, the crew of the Yamato will stop at nothing to save their home.
