Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus Unveils New Character Visual of Uzuki Hirokawa

A new character visual has been unveiled for the upcoming Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus TV anime series, highlighting the new arc’s main heroine and singer Uzuki Hirokawa. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 5, 2025.
Aniplex of America’s Twitter/X account also released an English version of the new character visual.
In addition, Aniplex also released recap videos of the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid anime films.
Crunchyroll will stream Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus worldwide, outside of Japan, and describes the main premise as:
After encountering various girls going through Puberty Syndrome, Sakuta Azusagawa’s high school days have come to a close, and he is now a university student. He enrolls at a university in Kanazawa-hakkei alongside his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, a nationally famed actress. Off campus, he stumbles upon an out-of-season miniskirt Santa. Precognitive dreams, an anonymous online singer, poltergeists buzzing on social media… A mysterious tale with enigmatic phenomenons surrounding girls with wavering hearts starts again. Puberty continues..
The series will feature several returning staff members, including Soichi Masui as director, Masahiro Yokotani as series screenwriter, Satomi Tamura as character designer, and fox capture plan as music composer. CloverWorks is handling the animation production, as it did with the first series and three previous films.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:
- • Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa
- • Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima
- • Reina Ueda as Miniskirt Santa/Toko Kirishima
- • Sora Amamiya as Uzuki Hirokawa
Crunchyroll and Aniplex of America also announced earlier this week that it will begin streaming the 2019 anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl with both English subtitles and an English dub. The film is now available to stream on the platform, as of this Thursday.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus is the latest entry in the Rascal Does Not Dream anime series, which is based on the supernatural teen/young adult drama light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi. The new series marks the start of the anime’s adaptation of the story’s “University Arc.”
The Rascal Does Not Dream anime began in 2018 with the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai TV series. It was followed by three movies: 2019’s Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl and 2023’s Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid.
The light novel series, which is published under ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint, was first published on April 10, 2014 and concluded on October 10, 2024. A short story collection was also released in July 2025. The light novel series has also inspired several manga adaptations, based on the light novel volumes.
Yen Press releases the light novels and manga adaptations in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Bunny girls do not live in libraries. This is simply common sense. And yet, that’s exactly where Sakuta finds one in the wild. More bewildering is who the bunny girl is: Mai Sakurajima, a girl one year older than Sakuta, famous at their school for her acting career even though she’s currently on break. To top it all off, it seems like no one else in the library can see Mai at all, no matter what she does or…wears. Wanting to find out more about this mystery and maybe get a little closer to this beautiful upperclassman in the process, Sakuta launches an investigation to discover why an unforgettable bunny girl keeps becoming totally invisible.
