Quavo has dropped a new song titled “Dope Boy Phone.” The track features his late nephew, and Migos member, Takeoff, who was died in 2022. The Unc and Phew duo are reunited on a track that will feature on Quavo’s upcoming album. Check out “Dope Boy Phone” below.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Quavo said “Dope Boy Phone” is one of 1000 unreleased songs featuring Takeoff vocals. “I want to keep his stuff very, very, very sacred right now,” he said. “Something about Take’s verses right now is just like so ahead of his time. Every time, it’s like he just did it.”
Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed in November 2022 in a Houston bowling alley. In May of that year Hotel Lobby, a Quavo and Takeoff album released as Unc & Phew, was released. Quavo named his 2023 album Rocket Power after his late nephew.
Speaking around the time of the release of Rocket Power, Quavo opened up about losing Takeoff. “I miss him a lot and I love him,” he said. “He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. And that’s it. I just know he’s here. If I can’t feel him, I just know he’s around.”
“Dope Phone Boy” is the third Quavo release of 2025 so far. It follows “Trappa Rappa” and “Legends” featuring Lil Baby.
