Although Pusha T just dropped his highly-anticipated DAYTONA follow-up It’s Almost Dry, the Clipse lyricist is already hard at work on his next project. During an interview with GQ, he previewed a previously unreleased track and compared his flow to The Notorious B.I.G.

“This is a new era for me, for sure,” Push said. “Don’t you hear the flows, you hear the tones, you hear the character? Listen, remember what Big sounded like in ’94?…Then he turned to the [smoother] Frank White persona by ’96. By ’97 it was full blown. And by the time the transformation is done [my craft] will be mastered and ready. You’ll have a niche product.”

It’s Almost Dry features appearances from Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, JAY-Z, Lil Uzi Vert, Don Toliver and more. It earned Pusha T his first No.1 spot on the Billboard 200, with an estimated 55,000 total album-equivalent units sold in its first week.

“We all can’t be number 1 at the same time, this week it’s mine,” he tweeted after hearing the news. “Thank you to all.”

The G.O.O.D. Music president also dropped a new visual component to his Pharrell-produced track “Call My Bluff” last month, which capitalized on Pusha’s supervillain character, as he at one point enjoys a classy meal in a plastic-covered room while his goons decapitate a hostage next door.
