It won’t be overselling to say that PS4 is one of the best gaming consoles there is, and some gamers still prefer it over most consoles. PS4 was released in 2013 and ever since that it has got a bunch of updates. Today the latest update for Sony’s PS4 was released and we will tell you all you need to know about it. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

The Announcement

A new major update for PS4 is available now but it may not be any significant or helpful. With the incoming of PS5 and other next gen consoles, there is actually not much point in updating PS4 with non-helpful updates. Sony UK took to twitter to announce the launch of the new update.

Also, the fact that new PS5 update is about to arrive today as well, really makes this PS4 update not a big deal. Many console owners have complained on the sub-Reddit r/PS4 that their consoles are running much slower after the update. But before talking about that let’s tell you what the update is all about.

PS4 Update 9.00

This 9.00 update is mainly about connecting the PS4 and the PS5 consoles together. It will allow you to view your PS5 trophies on your PS4 console. You will now also able to delete message groups if you are the owner. That aside, PS4 remote play now works using cellular data instead of requiring a Wi-Fi connection.

So, it can be seen that Sony is trying to do whatever it can to make PS4 even better, but the thing is, somethings are good as they are. Trying to make it function like next gen consoles, will only pose further problems. This is exactly what happened as many PS4 owners complained about their consoles running slower after the update.

Some users have even reported that their consoles completely bricked themselves rendering them entirely unusable. PS4 is amazing the way it is but the fact is that is an older machine. Trying to integrate it with PS5 or making it more like PS5 might break it, because it wasn’t built that way. Developers, most of all, should know this and just let it be as it is.
