#Appearances Are Deceptive in Uramichi Oniisan Character PV

While Uramichi Onnisan looms over him, iketeru Oniisan covers his face and tries not to laugh at a dirty joke in a scene from the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime.

Sometimes the contents don’t match the packaging, or at least that’s the impression left by a new character preview video for Uramichi Oniisan, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark comedy manga by Gaku Kuze about a cynical young man who keeps allowing his dark and pessimistic personality to shine through during his job as a fitness instructor on a popular children’s TV show.

The character PV (below) focuses on Iketeru Taga, aka “Iketeru Oniisan”, who is voiced by Mamoru Miyano. Although Iketeru has the good looks and musical talent of a former stage musical star, he’s also a huge fan up bottom-tier dirty jokes. He also can’t read between the lines, can’t read the room, and can’t read the time on an analog clock.

The Uramichi Oniisan manga is serialized in Ichijinsha’s comic POOL digital magazine, and an English language version is also published by Kodansha Comics under the title Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan. Kodansha Comics describes the story of the series as follows:

How did the cynical Uramichi end up hosting a TV show for small children? And how long is the studio going to let him keep teaching the kids the sorrow and exhaustion of life instead of, say, the ABCs?

A new key visual for the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime, featuring the cast of Maman to Together: costumed mascots Kumao-kun and Usao-kun, hosts Iketeru Oniisan and Utano Oneesan and fitness instructor Uramichi Oniisan.

The Uramichi Oniisan TV anime is directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama and features animation production by Studio Blanc.. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on TV Tokyo on July 05, 2021, with additional broadcasts to follow later on BS11, WOWOW, Hokkaido Television Broadcasting, and Animax.
