#Project Sekai Anime Movie To Premiere on January 17, 2025

The Project Sekai Colorful Stage Feat. Hatsune Miku mobile rhythm game, also known as Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!, is inspiring an anime movie titled Gekijouban Project Sekai: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku (Project Sekai the Movie: The Broken World and the Miku Who Cannot Sing). The film will premiere in Japan on January 17, 2025 JST, and has received a teaser trailer and a visual.

Gekijouban Project Sekai: Kuzureta Sekai to Utaenai Miku is a P.A.WORKS production directed by Hiroyuki Hata (Lapis Re:LiGHTs) with Yoko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection series composer and screenwriter) as screenwriter, Yuki Akiyama (The Aquatope on White Sand) as character designer, and Masatoshi Tsuji (Vivid BAD SQUAD Digest Animation – Journey to Bloom “Resolve”) as sub-character designer. Akiyama and Tsuji are also chief animation directors. 

The story of the film will see Ichika Hoshino meeting a Hatsune Miku who is struggling to get her song to reach her target audience. When Miku sees that Ichika is able to reach the hearts of many with her live performances, she decides to learn more about Ichika so that she might be able to do the same. 

The website for Gekijouban Project Sekai: Kuzureta Sekai to Utaenai Miku teases that the film will feature a “new” Hatsune Miku, one that can’t be found in the game, meeting the various cast members of Project Sekai and experiencing character growth. 

The Project Sekai Colorful Stage Feat. Hatsune Miku game originally launched for iOS and Android on September 30, 2020 before getting a Western release in December 2021. It is a spin-off of Sega‘s Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series and features a few other virtual singers, such as Kagamine Rin and Len, in addition to Miku. The game’s story premise is described as:

A mysterious song named “Untitled” with no melody or lyrics is passed around amongst the youth in Shibuya, Tokyo.

This song unlocks access to “SEKAI”, a mysterious place that allows everyone to discover their true emotions and their own song.
