#President Trump announces ‘snapback’ of Iran economic sanctions

President Trump on Wednesday announced a “snapback” re-upping sanctions against Iran, and vowed that the nation would never possess the capacity for nuclear arms.

“The United States intends to restore virtually all of the previously suspended United Nations sanctions on Iran,” the president said in a White House press briefing. “It’s a snapback.”

Earlier in his term, Trump withdrew the US from the controversial Obama era Iran nuclear deal, an arrangement he blasted Wednesday as “disastrous.”

He offered a prediction that under the sanctions, Iran would soon come to the negotiating table.

“If and when I win the election, within the first month Iran will come to us and they are going to be asking for a deal so quickly, because they are doing very poorly,” he said.

“My administration will not allow this Iran nuclear situation to go on,” he continued. “Mark it down. Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
