#Porco Rosso Voice Actor Shuuichirou Moriyama Has Passed Away

Shuuichirou Moriyama, who voiced the character Porco Rosso in Studo Ghibli’s 1992 Porco Rosso movie, has passed away at the age of 86 due to pneumonia. 

Aside from Porco Rosso, Moriyama provided voicework in other anime such as  Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies, Lupin the 3rd: The Columbus Files, and Terror in Resonance. He also lent his voice to video games, notably voicing Flotsam and Jetsam in Kingdom Hearts and Cid Aulstyne in Final Fantasy Type-0. 

Moriyama’s voicework was not limited to animation and games either, as he dubbed actors like Charles Bronson, Spencer Tracy, and Telly Savalas and also did narration in TV, movies, and plays. 

Outside of voicework, Moriyama also acted in live action movies. He additionally had a multi-decade career in live-action TV dramas and acted in many NHK productions, including 1965’s Taikouki and 2020’s Asadora series Yell
