In early 2022, Popcaan pledged to release his fifth studio album, Great Is He, by year’s end. That prospect feels unlikely at this point, but today (December 16), the dancehall luminary has returned with a new offering from the record.

“Set It,” a glitchy love song bubbling with saturated synths that call back to early-’10s Chicago bop, follows November’s “Next To Me,” a duet with former Miss World Toni-Ann Singh, on the forthcoming project’s release cycle. Great Is He will be Popcaan’s first full-length since Fixtape, The FADER’s 10th favorite album of 2020.
