#POP TEAM EPIC Season 2 Announced for 2022

The surreal POP TEAM EPIC anime is getting a second series in 2022. An announcement video for the new series was released.

The first POP TEAM EPIC series first aired in 2018, while a “remix version” called POP TEM EPIC REPEAT aired in 2021. There have also been two TV specials. The show is based on the manga by Bukubu Ookawa, which began in 2014 and released its sixth “season” in 2021. The manga is published under the Bamboo Comics WIN Selection label.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

Crude, rude, and a little…cute? Get ready for the larger-than-life attitude of Popuko and Pipimi, the small and tall stars of Pop Team Epic! Based off the bizarre four-panel webcomic by Bukubu Okawa comes a comedy that’ll throw you off with its out-there jokes and intense absurdity. You think you’re ready for these girls? Think again, F#%**er!

The first season’s main staff includes Jun Aoki and Aoi Umeki as series directors, Aoki as series composer, and Aoki, Umeki, and Sana Aohoshi as character designers. Kamikaze Douga produced the show. POP TEAM EPIC‘s main characters, Popuko and Pipimi, are voiced by a large range of voice actors across the series.
