Atlanta police have cleared out armed protesters who took over the site of the burned-down Wendy’s restaurant where Rayshard Brooks was killed by cops, according to a news report.

The fast-food eatery on University Avenue had been cordoned off by armed demonstrators who declared it a police-free zone in recent days — until city police cleared the area and opened the road Wednesday morning, WGCL-TV reported.

Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore confirmed that the area had been cleared and that a group was cleaning it up, the outlet said.

Also Wednesday, Moore said on Twitter that a “Townhall and Solidarity Walk” would be held Friday and end at the restaurant.

Brooks was shot twice in the back and killed after a scuffle with Atlanta cops outside the restaurant on June 12, sparking protests that saw the building burned down the following day. Armed demonstrators this week announced that the site was a cop-free zone.

The Atlanta Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
