This new sensor can detect leaks, measure water usage, and automatically shut off your water in an emergency. Oh, and it’s a whopping $200 cheaper than the original model!

At just $500, the new Phyn Plus is a direct competitor to the Moen Flo. It measures water pressure to intelligently track water usage, and can even identify which fixtures or appliances in your home are active. Plus, the Phyn Plus can notify you of potential leaks or plumbing issues, and even shut off your water in the event of a catastrophic leak or burst pipe.

But like most smart water sensors, the Phyn Plus can be a bit difficult to install. You need to place it at your main water line, which means cutting and soldering some very important pipe. Also, you need to route a power cable to the Phyn Plus—quite a challenge! I suggest hiring a plumber to get this job done.
