#Phantom Trigger The Animation TV Anime Announced

A television anime for Grisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation has been announced with Bibury Animation Studios in charge of animation production. The official Grisaia Twitter account tweeted a new key visual to celebrate the news. 

It is unknown if the TV anime will feature a new story or a retelling of the events that happened in Phantom Trigger The Animation and its sequel. 

Grisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation is the anime adaptation of the episodic visual novel series of the same name. Seven volumes of the Grisaia Phantom Trigger games are currently available on Steam. It premiered as a 90-minute anime film on March 15, 2019. The sequel, Phantom Trigger The Animation Stargazer, was released on November 27, 2020 and adapted the game’s third volume. 

Tenshou (BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL) directed and wrote the scripts for Phantom Trigger The Animation. Akio Watanabe (Higurashi When They Cry — GOU) was the chief animation director who also handled character design. Scenario writer Ryuuta Fujisaki (The Fruit of Grisaia) is credited with the anime’s original planning and concept. 

A Frontwing organized Kickstarter campaign for the anime adaptation ended in 2018, having surpassed its initial funding goal of US$100,000 with 720 backers in total. An English dub of the anime was also produced as one of the stretch goals that were met.

Following the Heath Oslo incident, the existence of the US-Japanese anti-terror organization CIRS has become a matter of public knowledge. CIRS has been rebuilt from the ground up, and its most covert functions spun off to a new agency: SORD (Social Ops, Research & Development).

The goal of SORD is to train a new generation of operatives to defend the country against future threats. To that end, the organization has established a series of schools up and down the country. Mihama Academy, more-or-less left to rot after its abrupt closure, has been given new purpose as one such ‘specialist training school’.

This new incarnation of Mihama Academy is home to a diverse group of students, who every day work to polish their unusual skills – sometimes on the job. Mihama now entrusts the misfit girls who attend it with guns and live ammunition.
