The family of the 14-year-old boy who fell to his death from an Orlando amusement park ride is calling for the attraction to be permanently shut down.

Tyre Sampson died after he plummeted from the free-fall ride at ICON Park as it was about halfway down its 430-foot descent on Thursday. 

“I would like this ride to be taken down,” Tyre’s cousin Shay Johnson said, Fox 35 Orlando reported.

The drop tower will remain closed as authorities investigate the fatal fall, but the family has launched a new petition calling for the closure to go a step further.

“My cousin lost his life over this ride. I don’t feel it’s safe, and feel it should be shut down before someone else’s family have to go through what we are going through,” added Johnson.

One of the people who signed the petition agreed that “this ride needs to go.”

The person, identified as Ashanti, wrote: “It’s not fair for anyone to come and ride this ride. It’s not fair,” according to the news outlet.

Isaiah Edwards, a TikTok content creator who visited a memorial at the tragic site Sunday, also signed the petition.

“We have kids ourselves, so this is someone’s child when it comes down to it. And any type of sympathetic feeling that you have as a human being you will try to come down here,” Edwards said, Fox 35 reported.

 “As a role model in the TikTok industry, I feel like that’s what we can do. Show our support and help the family,” he added.

Balloons will reportedly be released in front of the ride at 6 p.m. Monday in honor of the late teen.
