#PETA confiscates three more lions from Jeff Lowe’s ‘Tiger King’ zoo

It’s more bad news for Jeff Lowe from the hit Netflix series “Tiger King.”

PETA confiscated three lions through a court order from the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, which shuttered in August.

According to a press release Tuesday from the animal rights organization, three juvenile lions were taken after PETA won a lawsuit last month against Lowe’s former business partner Tim Stark. Stark had transferred the lions to Lowe, PETA claimed.

A fourth lion was also moved from Stark to Lowe, although “PETA recently learned that she died under suspicious circumstances,” the press release said. Organization reps said PETA plans to investigate.

Lowe took over the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park from Joe Exotic, who is currently serving 22 years in prison for a murder-for-hire plot on his nemesis, fellow Big Cat lover Carole Baskin, and for violating both the Lacey Act and the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Through the ESA, PETA won a lawsuit against Stark, who was also featured in the docuseries.

On their Twitter account, PETA posted videos of Stark’s “shabby roadside zoo” and announced that they have now recovered a total of 22 big cats from it. A video posted Tuesday to their YouTube page shows the rescued lions at their new home.

 

PETA now plans to sue Lowe under the ESA. Under his care, they claim that big cat cubs were prematurely separated from their mothers, and that animals including big cats, lemurs and grizzly bears were denied proper nutrition and that the bears and cats were denied veterinary care.

In June, Lowe was given 120 days to vacate the zoo property and remove the animals. Baskin, who is currently competing on “Dancing With The Stars,” was awarded control of the zoo.

Lowe, 67, regularly rants about PETA and the USDA on the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park’s Facebook page. “I guess PETA and their paid flunkies could only bulls - - t the regulatory agencies for so long before the truth resurfaced,” he wrote in August.
