#Paige VanZant documents intense UFC 251 journey to Fight Island

Naked photoshoots and “drowning” experiments aren’t the only activities getting Paige VanZant and husband Austin Vanderford through quarantine.

On Sunday, the 26-year-old fighter showed off her dance moves with Vanderford on Instagram, all the while documenting her journey to UFC’s Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, where she’ll be battling Amanda Ribas on Saturday at UFC 251.

“36 hour quarantine in Vegas, 15 hour flight, 48 hour quarantine in Abu Dhabi. Things get weird…,” VanZant captioned the clip.

In separate posts on her Instagram story, VanZant also elaborated on the quarantine process.

“We officially have 30 minutes left of being quarantined in our hotel room,” VanZant said. “We’ve been in here for 48 hours and tested for COVID two more times. At 2 a.m., the time here, we actually, finally get to be released into the hallway.”

In addition to initial testing and a 48-hour quarantine upon their arrival, participants will also be tested ahead of the fight, according to ESPN, followed by a “quarantine before the fights and then a final test before departure.”

VanZant and Vanderford, a fellow fighter, have since been allowed out of their hotel room. She credited one diet soda a day for keeping her “sane.”

“I love soda so much,” VanZant said. “And during my weight cut, I’m allowed one diet soda a day.”

Given the time difference, VanZant might need some caffeine to keep her going for fight night.
