Paige VanZant has nothing but respect for rival Amanda Ribas.
Taking to Instagram after her UFC 251 loss on Saturday, VanZant congratulated Ribas on an “amazing performance,” also shedding light on her next step.
“Congrats to Amanda on such an amazing performance. It was truly an honor to share the octagon with you,” VanZant posted. “As for me, I will rise up as I always do. I can’t wait to see where God takes me next.”
Ribas, 26, defeated VanZant in the first round at Fight Island. VanZant, also 26, will now officially test the free agency waters.
“I want to prove how good I am,” VanZant previously told ESPN. “I know how hard I’ve worked. So, no, the pressure isn’t higher, and I do truly feel my value doesn’t change, whether I win or lose.”
Should this be VanZant’s final UFC fight, opportunities could come about with MMA competitors, notably Bellator or ONE Championship.
In the meantime, however, VanZant and husband Austin Vanderford will forever have their hold on Instagram.
