After already making several big trades, the Padres acquired right-hander Mike Clevinger from the Cleveland Indians, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. The Padres are reportedly sending Cleveland RHP Cal Quantrill, catcher Austin Hedges and outfielder Josh Naylor. They also acquired three minor leaguers — pitcher Joey Cantillo and shortstops Gabriel Arias and Owen Miller.
The Padres, led by NL MVP candidate Fernando Tatis Jr., are 21-15 entering Monday’s MLB trade deadline. They’ve already acquired Mitch Moreland, Trevor Rosenthal, Austin Nola and Jason Castro.
Clevinger, 25, has a 3.18 ERA in four starts this season. He was briefly banished to the Indians’ alternate site after he broke COVID-19 protocols during a Chicago road trip. Clevinger has a career 3.20 ERA in 101 appearances (88 starts.)
