#Outspoken Biden critic Padma Lakshmi co-hosts Kamala Harris fundraiser

Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris will headline a virtual fundraiser for Joe Biden’s campaign on Tuesday evening with some help from Tinseltown.

“Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi and actor Billy Porter were tapped to bring Hollywood star wattage to the event where tickets are fetch up to $100,000, according to the invite.

But the co-hosts of the “Friends of Kamala” event are no friends of Biden.

Lakshmi has a long history of criticizing Biden on Twitter, while Porter is a leading supporter of the defund the police movement which the septuagenarian presidential candidate has tried to distance himself from.

Lakshmi repeatedly mocked and skewered Biden during his primary run, accusing him of only apologizing for his interrogation of Anita Hill 30 years ago because it was politically convenient for his presidential bid.

“What Joe Biden doesn’t seem to understand is how he not only wronged Anita Hill but every American young girl and woman by showing us our experiences don’t matter,” Lakshmi wrote in April 2019.

“I’m all for growth but he only admitted his mistake now that he wants to run,” she added.

The 50-year-old model also mocked Biden’s age, writing: “Hey buddy, can you spare a dime? I know I messed up with Anita Hill and a bunch of other stuff in the 100 years I’ve been in govt [sic] but I did say sorry to her even tho [sic] she doesn’t believe me. Whadaya say??”

When Harris was announced as Biden’s VP in August, Lakshmi, who is also South Asian, told Politico it was the first thing that had engaged in the campaign for “a really long time,” indicating her displeasure with Biden.

Meanwhile Porter, an openly-gay black actor and singer, was one of the leading voices calling for Mayor de Blasio to yank $1 billion from the NYPD budget.

In June 2020, Porter participated in a video with Hollywood and Broadway actors to call on Hizzoner and the New York City Council to defund the city’s finest after the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis cops in May.

The “Pose” star, 50, also signed a letter with 300 other Hollywood stars calling for the industry to “break ties with the police.”

Biden has sought to distance himself from the defund the police movement, repeatedly insisting that he supports reform and extra funding for police departments.

But the Trump campaign has been eager to portray the former veep as beholden to the whims of his far more liberal running mate.

The president has zeroed-in on the California senator in recent weeks, slamming her as a “disaster” who supports socialist Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All platform.

Reps for Lakshmi and Porter could not be immediately reached for comment.
