While we were still conducting our KSM anime interview at AnimagiC 2019 with Erik Stadel, Marvin Grollius has long since taken over his position in marketing. We are very pleased that Marvin answered some of our questions during an interview at this year’s AnimagiC. You can find out his answers in the video, have fun!

These are the questions:

Sony’s and Crunchyroll’s monopolization of the anime streaming market isn’t always celebrated. How come you started aniverse as your own streaming channel instead of collaborating with CR or another platform?
At aniverse, many anime appear only with German dubbing or OmU. Why aren’t both versions usually offered?
It is a well-known fact that license negotiations can be lengthy. Which productions were your hardest and longest “fights”?
With “Nana” and “Monster” you licensed two older, slightly longer titles that were considered unlicensable or difficult to market. How did the decision to license them come about?
How much time and effort goes into the different stages of a disc release?
In the second volume of “Hyouka” you included the CD soundtrack of the series as an extra – rather unusual in the anime sector. Is that the exception or will we see something like this more often in the future?
The “Shirobako” movie was shown at the AKIBA PASS FESTA in OmU. Were you involved as a publisher of the associated series and can you imagine a local release?
DVD sales aren’t what they used to be, and some anime publishers (such as Anime House) are already switching to mainly Blu-ray only. Are you already thinking about the end of the DVD?
How do you choose the right dubbing studios for your projects?
Since the last AnimagiC: What were your hit titles and which ones fell short of your expectations?
Are there any myths about anime publishers that you would like to dispel?
What else can we expect from you in the future, can you already tease upcoming titles?
