A new PV trailer has been released for the Orient anime, teasing the second cour finale of “The Battle of Awaji Island’’ story arc. The trailer features various clips from previous episodes, with narration provided by the characters Musashi and Kojirou Kanemaki.  

The first cour of the anime series aired from January 6, 2022 to March 24, 2022. The second cour aired from July 12, 2022 to September 27, 2022. Crunchyroll streamed both parts as they aired in Japan. 

The voice cast consists of Yuuma Uchida as Musashi, Souma Saitou as Kojirou Kanemaki, Rie Takahashi as Tsugumi Hattori, and Satoshi Hino as Naotora Takeda. Additional cast members for the second cour include Tomoaki Maeno as Tatsuomi Uesugi, Natsuki Hanae as Kanetatsu Naoe, Yoshiki Nakajima as Masayuki Amakasu, Kouki Uchiyama as Akihiro Shimazu, Gakuto Kajiwara as Katsumi Amako, Youko Hikasa as Kuroko Usami, Additional voice cast for the Obsidian Eight members include Hiro Shimono as Shirou Inukai, Tarusuke Shingaki as Seiroku Inukawa, and Tomokazu Sugita as Yatarou Inuda. 

The production staff for the anime series includes Tetsuya Yanagisawa as director, Mariko Kunisawa as screenwriter, Takahiro Kishida as character designer, Fumio Matsumoto and Sayuri Sakimoto as chief animation directors, Suga Shigeyuki as action supervisor, Hirofumi Sakagami as art director, Hidenori Manaka as photography director, Mika Funabashi (Blue Reflection Ray) as color designer, and Hideyuki Fukasawa as music composer. A.C.G.T. is handling the animation production. 

The anime is based on the manga by Magi creator Shinobu Ohtaka. It was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine on May 30, 2018, before transferring to Bessatsu Shounen Magazine on February 9, 2021. 16 tankoubon volumes have been released as of July 2022. 

Crunchyroll describes the anime’s synopsis as:

When unidentified creatures known as Kishin suddenly appeared in Japan, all of the most famous military leaders were killed in battle, and the end of the world seemed close at hand.

Now, 150 years later, demons still rule the world, and only the Band of Bushi continues to fight for freedom. Musashi and Kojiro, out of admiration for these brave fighters, strive to form the strongest Band of Bushi in this classic battle action story of friends passionately chasing a dream.
