#Organized Crime’ Adds Denis Leary in a Recurring Role

Denis Leary knows a thing or two about playing a New York City first responder and he’s putting it to use in a newly-announced recurring role on NBC‘s Law & Order: Organized Crime.

The former Rescue Me star has been cast as Frank Donnelly in the spinoff, serving as a fellow member of the NYPD who engages with Christopher Meloni‘s Detective Elliot Stabler, according to Deadline. And Leary is just the latest addition following the recent announcement that Jennifer Beals (The L Word: Generation Q, The Book of Boba Fett) would join the series in a recurring role.

As previously announced, Beals will play the yet-to-be-named wife of Mykelti Williamson‘s (Underground) Preston Webb, a New York drug kingpin and head of the Marcy Corporation. Williamson’s character was also introduced earlier this season as the main antagonist of the Law & Order spinoff series.

Currently in its second season, Law & Order: Organized Crime follows Meloni’s Stabler amid his return to the NYPD after a decade away. Dealing with a personal loss, Stabler works on rebuilding his life and doing the job he’s known so well for.

This is Leary’s first TV role since Fox‘s The Moodys and recently appeared in Animal Kingdom on TNT. Along with Rescue Me, Leary’s other TV credits include Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. His first major TV role was in the early 2000s series The Job.

No exact date has been set for Leary’s first appearance as a recurring player, but stay tuned for more details as production continues.

Law & Order: Organized Crime, Season 2, Thursdays, 10/9c, NBC
