#Orange County Choppers donates custom NYPD bike to Blue Lives NYC

The stars of TV show “American Chopper” gave a New York City pro-cop group a new ride to roll up to events in — a donation that the customer motorcycle-maker hopes will rev up police morale.

Paul Teutul Sr., the fiery star of the show, handed over the handmade chopper — which was built by Orange County Choppers in 2004 to honor the police force following 9/11 — to Blue Lives Matter NYC in a show of appreciation for the NYPD on Wednesday.

“I think that’s the home that bike belongs in,” he said, adding he hopes one day it ends up in One Police Plaza. “I think people need to remember what police do for us and the country. It’s very important for Orange County Choppers and people who work.”

And the donation just turned out to be fate for Blue Lives Matter NYC.

“We had a photographer up here for fashion week…. he was admiring the bike and said his good friends was the president of Blue Lives, Joe [Imperatrice] and would love to take some pictures to bring back if I didn’t mind,” recalled the bike company’s No. 2 — and Teutul’s longtime girlfriend — Joan Kay.

But Teutul overheard and responded, “you know, that bike really belongs with the NYPD. You should give your friend a call,” according to Kay.

The local Blue Lives Matter founder, Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice, was blown away when he got the call about Teutul’s offer to hand over the keys.

“It’s just a complete honor,” Imperatrice said. “I think we can all agree that in 2020, with all the anti-police sentiment that it means just as much if not more.”

“It’s going to be Blue Lives Matter NYC’s responsibility to tell the story of the bike to put a smile on the faces of those that lost a loved one in the line of duty and continue the rich tradition of Orange County Choppers.”

Imperatrice said the bike will be stored in New Jersey and brought out for functions hosted by the group.
