#Olivia Dunne Corrects Commenter Who Tried to Flirt with Her: ‘It’s a Beam’

LSU star gymnast Olivia Dunne was not impressed when a user on Instagram tried to flirt with her in the comments on a recent post.

On Monday, Dunne, 21, showed off her flexibility on the beam when she shared a photo of herself from practice at LSU’s gym on Instagram.

The popular athlete captioned her post, “seasons greetings,” with an emoji of a smirking cat.

And though the comments section on Dunne’s Instagram posts, where she has 4.5 million followers, are often flooded with unsuccessful attempts at getting the gymnast’s attention, she wasn’t going to let one comment go uncorrected.

“Tryna be that bar,” the comment read. An hour later, Dunne wrote back, “It’s a beam.”

The commenter, still trying to get in with the gymnast, quickly corrected himself, writing, “tryna be that beam.”

The original comment by Dunne’s digital admirer garnered just over 2000 likes, while Dunne’s clapback has been “liked” by nearly 4,500 users on the app.

Dunne’s popularity as a gymnast and social media star has invited unwanted attention to her in the last year.

In January, a chaotic scene broke out at the University of Utah when her team traveled to compete, despite Dunne having been injured during the meet.

Sports Illustrated reported at the time that crowds of young men gathered outside of the building and chanted “We want Livvy! Give us Livvy!” during other gymnasts’ routines.

Utah sports writer Josh Furlong was covering the meet in real time and said, “There’s literally a line outside of the Huntsman Center of teenage boys that keep asking if Livvy is coming out. I’ve never seen anything like this,” in a post on X.

Police intervened and LSU’s team bus ultimately had to move “so they didn’t have to run into the group of boys. There were cops stationed in front to avoid them getting in,” wrote Furlong.

In November, Dunne told PEOPLE that LSU has stepped in to make sure fans have “settled down a bit” since the incident in Utah, and she now travels with a security team.

“We haven’t competed since last season, so we’ll see what this season holds. But after the incident in Utah that happened last year, we now have a security guard that travels with the LSU gymnastics team,” Dunne told PEOPLE.

The LSU gymnast also shared that her relationship with former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes, 21, has helped her navigate life in the public eye. “I’ve definitely learned over the past few years that, this past year mostly, that keeping certain things private is okay,” Dunne said.

“It’s funny because there’s speculations at first about it, but I guess people caught onto us having pictures and videos together out in public, so that’s kind of how the news broke.”

“But we try to keep things private,” Dunne added.
