A 49-year-old street vendor was stabbed in Midtown Sunday night during a fight with a knife-wielding thief, sources said.
The victim was injured at around 7 p.m. when a man stole a handbag and attempted to flee the scene at West 50th Street and Broadway, according to police.
The vendor ran after the suspect to retrieve the merchandise. The suspect, described as 20 years old, stabbed the man in the leg.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and listed in stable condition.
