#NYC man swipes Citi Bike from unsuspecting rider and then hops a subway turnstile

A Manhattan public transit menace swiped a Citi Bike from a cyclist last month — then ditched the bike and jumped a turnstile at a nearby subway stop, police said Wednesday.

The suspect kicked off the public transit mini-crime spree when he socked the Citi Bike rider, a 26-year-old man, in the face near Water Street and Hanover Square in the Financial District at about 11:55 p.m. on June 17, police said.

According to the NYPD, this unidentified man swiped a citi bike from an unsuspecting rider on July 14, 2021 and then hopped a turnstile in lower NYC.

He then pedaled off on the stolen wheels, cops said.

The unidentified suspect — who is still at large — then rode the bike to the South Ferry subway station and ditched it outside the train stop, authorities said.

He then jumped a turnstile at the station soon after 12 a.m., about 15 minutes after he robbed the bike from the cyclist, cops said.

The cyclist suffered wrist pain after the robbery, but refused medical attention, police said.
