#NYC Carmine’s hostess denies using racial slur during vax mandate attack

The Upper West Side restaurant hostess who was attacked by several tourists as she enforced the city’s vaccination mandate denied using a racial slur during the incident — and called the allegation that she did “unbelievable.”

Three Texas women face up to a year behind bars after they were caught on camera assaulting the unidentified 24-year-old Carmine’s worker last month. The suspects, who are black, claimed the hostess called them the N-word during the altercation.

“I did my job in order to protect my co-workers and the other customers from the possibility of getting the COVID virus,” the worker said in a statement issued by her lawyer Aaron Mysliwiec.

“The accusation stating that I said a racial slur is unbelievable. I am a Korean immigrant, I was born in Seoul, Korea … I would never call anyone a racial slur. People lying about that is even worse than being physically assaulted,” the victim continued.

The Carmine's worker has said she did not use any racial epithets during the encounter.

Carmine’s owner Jeffrey Bank has maintained the attack was “unprovoked,” and began after the women became violent because members of their party could not provide proof of vaccination.

He released security footage of the incident that did not contain audio, but showed the women shoving and punching the hostess, and ripping her mask off outside the restaurant.

Hawk Newsome, a Black Lives Matter protest leader, led a demonstration at the famed eatery a week after the Sept. 16 incident.

“Last week, there was a racist hostess standing right here, y’all,” he said through a megaphone as a large group shouted “Cancel Carmine’s!”

Carmine's owner Jeffrey Bank has said the attack came from the worker asking for proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.

The 24-year-old victim said she was just trying to keep her customers safe.

“I want to make sure that neither myself nor my fellow co-workers are attacked again for trying to protect ourselves and our customers from the COVID virus,” she said in the statement.
