#Northeastern University mistakenly sends thousands of acceptance letters to law school applicants

“Northeastern University mistakenly sends thousands of acceptance letters to law school applicants”

Over 200 current applicants to Northeastern University School of Law mistakenly received acceptance letters earlier this week.

“Due to a technical error, 205 current applicants to the School of Law received an erroneous email notifying them of their acceptance into next year’s class,” the university confirmed to The Post Wednesday.

The recipients subsequently received a “clarifying email,” while “individual outreach” is also available for individuals with persistent concerns.

“Admissions decisions will not be finalized later in the academic year,” officials clarified.

The Office of External Affairs also admitted that the same false acceptance letter was sent to 3,930 applicants from the previous admissions cycle.

“While many of those applicants have already matriculated at Northeastern or another law school, they also received the clarification email,” the school stated.

The false admissions emails went out to over 4,000 current and past applicants.

“The School of Law deeply regrets this unintended mistake and is taking steps to ensure that it will not happen in the future.”

Not everyone is satisfied with the university’s apology. Lakisha Papoutsakis, a single mom of 4 in Northboro, MA, was one of the disappointed recipients.

“It was like going on a roller coaster, that’s exactly how it felt,” Papoutsakis, who was already rejected by Northeastern twice over the past two years, told NBC.

“I was like ‘Oh my God this is so amazing,’ and then it was like ‘Oh no, sorry, April Fool’s Day.’”

Papoutsakis, who previously battled homelessness, says she has written a letter to Northeastern University officials urging them to reconsider the rejection.

“I’m a woman of color who wound up in a shelter, who lost almost everything, and still has her four kids, but aspires to be more,” she said.
