“Norman Reedus ‘Getting Better’ After Suffering ‘Walking Dead’ Set Injury”

Norman Reedus is “getting better” after suffering a concussion on the set of The Walking Dead while filming the show’s 11th and final season.

The actor, who plays Daryl Dixon in the popular AMC zombie drama, revealed that he is “gonna be back at work on Tuesday (March 22)” as he shared an update with his fans on social media. “Thank u for the nice thoughts it’s been a week. or two. I was in an accident. but getting better getting cleared,” he wrote on Instagram.

News of the accident first came to light over the weekend in a post from the comic convention company Fandemic Tour, where Reedus was scheduled to appear. “Norman Reedus had to postpone due to an injury,” the post read.

Reedus apologized to fans for missing the event, writing, “And sorry bout Atlanta event [Fandemic Tour] I was looking forward to it.”

Details of Reedus’ accident remain under wraps, but the actor’s publicist, Jeffrey Chassen, confirmed earlier this week Reedus “suffered a concussion on set” of The Walking Dead‘s final episode, directed by Greg Nicotero.

Deadline reports that the injury caused production on the final wrap day for The Walking Dead to be pushed back a few days. However, the show’s Director of Photography, Duane Charles Manwiller, revealed that filming is now back underway and that Reedus is “good to go.”

While the apocalyptic drama is coming to an end within the next year, Reedus’ Daryl Dixon will be sticking around a while longer. Reedus will reprise his character alongside Melissa McBride‘s Carol Peletier for a Walking Dead spinoff series. On top of that, Reedus is also collaborating with the Jim Henson Company on a new live-action fantasy series.

The Walking Dead, Sundays, 9/8c, AMC
