#Norah Jones house hunts in Connecticut, touring $4.95M architectural gem

Singer Norah Jones is on the prowl for a country house. She recently checked out a $4.95 million property in Ridgefield, Conn.

The Arts and Crafts-style, 6,000-square-foot home at 323 Florida Hill Road sits on 29 acres. It’s owned by fashion designer Alexander Julian and his wife Meagan, who’ve entertained famous friends at the house, including Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Michelle Williams.

“I’ll never forget Paul Newman standing at the front door with a birthday gift of a case of his favorite beer over his shoulder,” Julian tells Gimme.

He bought the property in 1988 for $1.6 million from the widow of Charlie Bluhdorn, who headed Gulf and Western. The house, by architect John Marsh Davis, features glass walls, a chef’s kitchen, vaulted ceilings, three fireplaces and 56 custom paint colors from artist Donald Kaufman. Outside, Jones might find inspiration in its pool, tennis courts, summer cottages, ponds and lush gardens.

The listing brokers are David Everson and William Ayles of Sotheby’s International Realty.
