#NJ Gov. Phil Murphy urges attendees of Trump’s Bedminster fundraiser to quarantine

New Jersey Gov. Phily Murphy is urging all state residents who attended President Donald Trump’s fundraiser at his Bedminster golf course on Thursday to self-quarantine after Trump and the first lady tested positive for COVID-19..

Murphy and New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy issued a joint statement Friday sending “best wishes to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a speedy and complete return to good health.”

“The contact-tracing process is underway,” the statement added.

“We urge everyone who attended yesterday’s event in Bedminster to take full precautions, including self-quarantining and getting tested.”

Trump and first lady Melania were tested for the coronavirus Thursday night after attending the fundraiser earlier in the day.

The White House was aware that Hope Hicks, who had been in close contact with the president in the days prior, was showing signs of COVID-related symptoms before Trump headed to the club, The Washington Post reported.

It’s not clear how well-attended the fundraiser was; multiple people who have been at events with the president dating back his Rose Garden ceremony on Saturday for Amy Coney Barrett — including members of Congress, reporters and aides — have tested positive.
