Nike has postponed the release of their upcoming Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack sneaker collaboration with Travis Scott, Rolling Stone reports. The decision to push back the December 16 launch was announced shortly after the 10th person to die following Scott’s Astroworld festival was named on Monday. Ezra Blount, a nine-year-old child who attended the Houston event with his father, passed away this past weekend.
“Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” Nike stated in a post on its SNKRS app on Monday.
In addition to the 10 confirmed deaths, hundreds more were injured at Astroworld, which took place on November 6. Blount’s family are among the many attendees who have filed legal action against Scott and Astroworld promoters Live Nation and ScoreMore. Scott has already refunded fans who bought tickets for the festival as well as offering to pay for the funerals of the deceased and, in a divisive move, partnered with BetterHelp to provide free therapy sessions to fans.
