The popular series “Avatar – The Last Airbender” has received an anime make-over. The official YouTube channel shows us what the series would look like as an anime.

The popular 61-part animated series «Avatar – The Last Airbender» from US broadcaster Nickelodeon was invented by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. The series originated in the USA and was animated in South Korea, and yet you can see that the cartoon is anime-like. For the series, the inventors were inspired by anime works such as the Studio Ghibli films (including “Princess Mononoke”, “My Neighbor Totoro”) and “FLCL (Furi Kuri)”.

To show the anime inspirations more clearly, the official «Avatar» YouTube channel of Nickelodeon «Avatar» released as anime. The anime cut starts with one Japanese intro song as you know him from anime. Then you can see excerpts from the series Japanese dubbing and English subtitles.

There are also some anime-typical things like an eye-catcher and credits in the opening. Episodes 5 and 9 from season 3 of “Avatar” have been selected as excerpts. Episode 5 leads the action to the beach, which is similar to the typical anime beach episodes. Episode 9, on the other hand, is one of the more absurd episodes when Aang begins to dream strange things due to lack of sleep.

All 61 episodes of “Avatar” are available in German in HD quality for the first time since last year (we reported). The Amazon-exclusive Limited Edition Blu-ray is already sold out. This year, however, a cheaper standard edition was published:
