#Next Sonic Game Announced, Sonic Colors Returns in Remastered Form

SEGA kicked off its Sonic Central live stream today, bringing with it a bunch of new announcements for the Blue Blur’s 30th anniversary. The big one came near the end, kind of, with the reveal of the next main game in the series from Sonic Team. While it’s exciting to see that something new is in the works, the teaser was just that, showing a glimpse of Sonic and adding in a 2022 release date.

There’s a new version of Sonic Colors on the way with improvements, as well. Sonic Colors Ultimate hits PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on September 7, and SEGA also revealed a Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps animation, which will include two episodes when it premieres this summer. As announced earlier, Roger Craig Smith is back in action as the voice of Sonic for games.

Sonic Origins is an upcoming collection that includes the first three Sonic the Hedgehog games along with Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD. It’s arriving next year with some special features, so stay tuned for more on that one. 

Other announcements include new additions to the Sonic Forces mobile game, a collaboration with Two Point Hospital, Sonic’s inclusion in the official Tokyo 2020 Olympics game, and new merchandise—including Sonic bling for “fans dialed into hip-hop culture”—all of which can be seen on the official anniversary website.
