#New York State Police Superintendent announces retirement

New York State Police Superintendent Keith Corlett has announced that he will be retiring at end of November, citing “personal family reasons.”

A trooper for 35 years, Corlett became the agency’s 16th superintendent in June 2019.

“It has been a great honor working alongside the brave and dedicated men and women of the New York State Police,” he wrote in a message to the force.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished together on behalf of all New Yorkers, and I am deeply grateful for your service.”

As superintendent, Corlett commanded more than 5,000 troopers, investigators and civilian support staff.

His retirement will be effective Nov. 28.

It wasn’t immediately clear who would take over the helm of the agency.
