#New York COVID-19 hospitalizations on the rise

The number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized in New York has more than quadrupled since the beginning of July, new numbers show.

There were 1,654 patients in New York hospitals Friday, up from 340 on July 2, according to stats released Saturday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The statewide COVID-19 positivity rate, when measured on a seven-day average, was 3.09 percent Friday. It stood at 2.64 percent in New York City.

Thirteen people died of the virus Friday including four in New York City.

The state gave out 46,441 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from Friday morning to Saturday morning.

The number of adults New Yorkers who have completed their coronavirus vaccine series was at 77.3 percent Friday with 69.7 percent having received at least one dose, Cuomo said citing federal data.
