Netflix has released a new key visual for the upcoming Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, along with more stills and information about the horror anime anthology.

The stills are from the adaptations of the Ice Cream Truck, Tomb Town, Library Vision, and Headless Statue stories, which Netflix has now revealed to be a part of the anthology. The cast for these includes:

Ice Cream Truck: Ryoutarou Okiayu as Sonohara, Sara Matsumoto as Tomoki, and Chikamatsu Takatsugu as Ice Cream Man

Tomb Town: Ryouhei Kimura as Tsuyoshi Yoshikawa, M.A.O as Kaoru Yoshikawa, and Aya Uchida as Izumi Murakami

Library Vision: Yuuki Kaji as Goro Shirozaki and Tomoe Hanba as Koko

Headless Statue: Fumiko Orikasa as Rumi and Takashi Kondou as Shimada.

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre will be released on Netflix on January 19, 2023. The other Junji Ito stories that will be adapted for the show include Tomie, Souichi, Terumi Fujino, The Long Hair in the Attic, Unendurable Labyrinth, The Bully, and Where the Sandman Lives. The anime draws from collections like The Hanging Balloons, Lovesickness: Junji Ito Story Collection, and Deserter: Junji Ito Story Collection.

Like 2018’s Junji Ito Collection, Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre‘s staff includes Shinobu Tagashira as director and character designer, Kaoru Sawada as scriptwriter, and Yuuki Hayashi as music composer, with Studio Deen as the animation production company.

Some of the previously announced cast include Takahiro Sakurai and Romi Park as The Strange Hikizuri Siblings: The Séance‘s Kazuya and Kinako Hikizuri respectively, Yoko Hikasa as The Long Hair in the Attic‘s Chiemi; Hisako Kanemoto as Unendurable Labyrinth‘s Sayoko; Natsumi Takamori as The Bully‘s Kuriko; and Hajime Iijima, Risa Shimizu, Ayaka Asai, and Tomoko Kaneda as The Strange Hikizuri Siblings: The Séance‘s Shigoro, Narumi, Hitoshi, and Misako Hikizuri respectively.
