He made it pop off.

A Russian influencer created a veritable volcanic eruption after combining baking soda and 10,000 liters of Coca-Cola in a feat that took four years to complete. Footage of the explosive experiment currently boasts more than six million views on YouTube.

“I will spend more than 700,000 rubles [over $9,000] for the video today,” vlogger Maxim Monakhov, better known as Mamix, says into the camera.

In the resultant clip uploaded August 21, Mamix and his cronies use a crane to dump bucketfuls of the soda into a custom-built, pressurized tank labeled “Coca-Cola.”

The would-be Pop-penheimers are then seen adding the baking soda via a pulley system, before running away in slow motion like a scene from a “Mission Impossible” movie.

Needless to say, the volatile combo causes the soda to volcano out of the vat in a towering brown plume while dramatic music plays in the background.

Despite resembling a geyser or an oil gusher, the combustive effect is actually the result of combining the acidic soft drink with the carbonate in baking soda to create hydrogen carbonate. The carbonate was then converted into carbon dioxide, which bubbled off as a gas — but on a massive scale, according to the University of California Santa Barbara’s Science Line.

Similar results can be achieved by combining Mentos candy and Coca-Cola — a viral stunt practiced by amateur scientists across the internet. Mamix said he opted for baking soda because it was cheaper, reports the Daily Mail.

His bombastic stunt is blowing up on YouTube.

“This video remains the most labor-intensive and cool that I have ever seen,” gushed one awestruck commenter of the epic soda fountain.

“Will be something to tell the grandchildren,” said another.

One YouTube comedian joked that, in 10 years, Mamix will be flying to Mars in a “cola-fueled rocket.”

While MacGyver-ing soda geysers might seem frivolous, “for me it means a lot,” says the pop scientist.
