Pop Team Epic short subject "Bobnemimimi" has been trending on Twitter, but it's not because of anything new they've done. Rather, it's thanks to a new Love Live! Sunshine!! music video that had a lot of people fooled.
The video is for Ruby Kurosawa's solo track, the upbeat "Cotton Candy Ei Ei Oh!," which hails from the character's first solo album. Pop Team Epic viewers will immediately see why so many people assumed the MV hailed from AC-bu, the creators of Bobnemimimi and the "Hellshake Yano" notebook skits:
The animation is credited to Twitter user @onkun_suko, (display name Kawaisou ni!, or "Poor thing!"), who does have a somewhat similar style to AC-bu's. Between some believing it was the artistic duo themselves, and others noting the similar energy, "Bobnemimimi" began trending on Twitter… to the point that Pop Team Epic creator Bkub Okawa took notice and asked why:

If nothing else, the trend is boosting attention for both the artist and the new album — the latter of which, ~RED GEM WINK~, is available in Japan starting today.
