#New Jersey offers bevy of options to get your NFL betting fix

It was just over two years ago that legalized sports gambling in New Jersey made its long-awaited debut at Monmouth Park. In 2019, $4.55 billion was bet in the state — roughly $3.8 billion was wagered online — with $939 million bet on football. While mobile betting still remains illegal in New York, there have never been more legal options to place action in the Tri-State area.

Here are the options:

Borgata

Currently operating at 25 percent capacity — like all other venues in the state — the Borgata offers the 8,000-square-foot BetMGM Sportsbook & Bar, which features a 35-foot-long bar with built-in slot machines and a 40-foot wide by 11 ¹/₂-foot tall video wall, as well as the Race & Sports Book, Atlantic City’s only venue for horse racing betting.

Monmouth Park

Monmouth Park Racetrack opened New Jersey’s first sportsbook after investing millions of dollars to convert a cafeteria into the William Hill Race & Sports Bar. The facility — split between the bar and the main grandstand — has more than 50 TVs , as well as a 75-foot wide, 8-foot tall video board. Eating and drinking is currently not permitted on the property due to COVID-19.

The Meadowlands

The closest option to New York City is located a few punts away from MetLife Stadium. The FanDuel Sportsbook has over 10,000 square feet and over 100 TVs. Due to COVID-19, the facility is currently standing room only, with no seating or dining available.

Ocean Casino Resort

Partnered with William Hill, this boardwalk casino built an impressive 7,500-square-foot sports book in the middle of the casino floor, with TVs completely surrounding guests.

Tropicana

The 5,000-square-foot William Hill Sportsbook at Tropicana has 1,654 square feet of video displays. Like all sportsbooks in New Jersey, masks and social distancing are required.

Resorts Atlantic City

New Jersey’s first casino hotel features the 5,000-square-foot DraftKings Sportsbook, which has a 15-foot video wall. Drinks are available, but dining is not.

Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget has more than 50 TVs on five video walls, with betting currently limited to self-service kiosks. Due to casino owner Tilman Fertitta’s ownership of the Houston Rockets, the sportsbook cannot offer action on games involving the team.

Hard Rock Casino

The 3,800-square-foot space has five betting windows, 60 TVs and a full-service bar with video poker slots.
