Chinese rappers Psy.P and KnowKnow of Higher Brothers and CDC Rap House member Ty collaborated with visual artist Aslan Malik on their first NFT (non-fungible token) music video titled “Phuket,” named after the largest island in Thailand.

The music video was released via the Binance NFT marketplace on September 9 and is available to purchase in five different versions at $US99 each. A total of 3,000 minted copies are available, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Crypto Against COVID relief fund.

According to a press statement, the NFT “aims to connect music aficionados, digital art fans, and young audiences with the NFTs world.” Psy.P also added, “I’m a blockchain enthusiast [and] this is my first experiment on NFT with my friends, and I hope NFT will be a part of the future in the music industry and could bring more opportunities to independent music talents.”

For those who are still not caught up, an NFT works as a unique digital asset stored on a digital ledger, known as a blockchain, that is not interchangeable. These “digital assets” are usually purchased using digital currencies like “Bitcoin.” NFTs currently offer various digital renditions of art through photos, videos, and audio. Forbes declares NFT as a “generative art [in] nascent and rapidly growing ecosystem within the crypto world.”

Before the “Phuket” NFT drop, KnowKnow released his collaborative single titled, “如土” (Like Earth),” on September 8 featuring China’s 谢帝BO$$ X and South Korea’s Dok2Gonzo. Meanwhile, Masiwei recently appeared in the Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soundtrack. He was featured on “Lazy Susan” with Rich Brian, 21 Savage, and Warren Hue.
