#New Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Trailers Reveal More Scenes From The Movie

Studio Khara has released two new trailers for Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, which opened in Japan on March 8. The trailers contain many scenes that were not revealed in previous promotional material, with Trailer A focusing on the film’s quieter moments while Trailer B showcases its action elements.

Trailer A also offers a preview of Megumi Hayashibara’s cover of “VOYAGER~ Hizuke no nai Bohyou” (“VOYAGER ~ Gravestone Without Dates”) by Yumi Matsutoya, while Trailer B is set to the track “this is the dream, beyond belief…” from Shiro SAGISU’s score.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time is the fourth and final film in the the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy. Its IMAX opening set a record with a gross of $740,000, while the overall opening gross was $7.6 million. Variety reported that the movie earned $30.6 million in its first week, which was 45% higher than the third Rebuild of Evangelion movie’s earnings.

The film was originally scheduled to begin screening in Japan on January 23 but was delayed due to the spread of COVID-19 and the state of emergency declared by the Japanese government. The previous January 23 release date was itself the result of a delay, with the film meant to open in Japan on June 27, 2020.

The first three films, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] AloneEvangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, premiered in 2007, 2009, and 2012 respectively. Like its predecessors, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time’s theme song, “One Last Kiss,” is performed by Utada Hikaru. The tetralogy is based on the premise of 1995’s Neon Genesis Evangelion but offers a different story.

IMDB describes the story as:

Shinji Ikari is still adrift after losing his will to live, but the place he arrives at teaches him what it means to hope. Finally, the Instrumentality Project is set in motion and Wille make one last grueling stand to prevent the Final Impact.
