“Neve Campbell to Star as a Detective in ABC Drama Series Avalon”
This announcement marks a reunion for Campbell, Kelley, and Connelly. She just recently appeared in the Netflix adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer, which was also adapted by Kelley and based on Connelly’s work. Kelley and Connelly are executive producing Avalon for A+E Studios alongside Ross Fineman and Dana Calvo of Fineman Entertainment as well as Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson for A+E Studios. A+E Studios and 20th Television are producing.
In Avalon, Campbell plays Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy with her office located in the city of Avalon on Catalina Island. A description of the series and Campbell’s role have also been revealed, and you can read that information below.
Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island. Neve Campbell Won’t Return for Scream 6
This casting news comes shortly after Neve Campbell announced that she will not appear in Scream 6. According to Campbell, this is because the pay she was offered did not equate to the value she brought to the franchise. That doesn’t mean she won’t ever return to the franchise, perhaps if a better offer is made for Scream 7, but with Campbell having no issues in getting work elsewhere, she had no problem with stepping away from Scream.
“I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years, and as a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued,” Campbell told People. “I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man. And in my soul, I just couldn’t do that. I couldn’t walk on set feeling that — feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that.”
Campbell has also recently impressed with her role in The Lincoln Lawyer, and she is set to appear in that show’s upcoming second season as a recurring star. Meanwhile, she has also been cast in a major role in Twisted Metal, a live-action series adaptation of the popular video game that is in the works at Peacock.
