#Nets resting their ‘Bubble Big 3’ against dominant Bucks

The Nets will rest their “Bubble Big 3’’ Tuesday when they face the league-leading Bucks at Disney World.

After keying Sunday’s victory over Washington with spectacular performances, swingmen Caris LeVert and Joe Harris and center Jarrett Allen each have come down with varying issues.

LeVert, who scored 34 points, has a bruised thigh, and Harris, who added a season-high 27, has back/hamstring tightness. Allen (22 points, 15 rebounds) doesn’t have a nagging injury, but logged a season-high 38 minutes for a non-overtime game.

Coach Jacque Vaughn, essentially conceding the game to Giannis Antetokounmpo, will save the trio for the Celtics on Wednesday in the second night of a back-to-back.

“We’re looking forward for them to be available versus Boston,’’ Vaughn said.

There’s a certain irony in Vaughn raising the white flag to the Bucks — a club the Nets may face in the first round of the playoffs.

The Disney Nets aren’t ready to compete with the league’s elite with this makeshift roster. But the way LeVert, Harris and Allen played Sunday, it was a fresh reminder on how special next season can be in Brooklyn when at full strength.

Taking those three sparkplugs and adding Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie and Deandre Jordan back in, that’s a talented top seven. On paper, if the Nets are healthy, magic can be made on Atlantic Avenue for the 2020-21 season.

Nets owner Joe Tsai has to decide whether Vaughn is the right man to lead the Nets to the promised land next season or should he open a coaching search with New York City product Mark Jackson looking to get back into coaching.

“Those three guys who have been with us for a long time, it was just great to see their growth, to be a part of just their games growing and for them to enjoy competitively playing and show us a tremendous amount of resilience,’’ said Vaughn, a Nets assistant for 3 ½ seasons before taking over for the fired Kenny Atkinson in March. “So we have tremendous amount of expectations moving forward. There’s no reason not to say that. I think these guys have taken advantage of where they are right now and hopefully that pays off moving forward.”

Harris, who won the 3-point shooting contest at 2019’s All-Star Weekend, is a free agent and needs to be re-signed. LeVert needs to stay healthy after having foot issues since college. There are several ifs — none greater than KD regaining his form as a top-three player in the world.

Sunday, the vision of LeVert exploding for 14 points in the final 6:31 was mesmerizing. Maybe the Nets won’t regain their lottery pick from Minnesota with a crash out of the playoffs, but seeing Levert and Allen thrive in Disney World might be worth it.

“That was my favorite show to watch, seeing Caris go to work, seeing how far he’s come, just being able to play one-on-one,’’ Allen said. “He was calling me saying, ‘Hey, JA, I don’t want the screen.’ And I respected that. He didn’t want the screen and they couldn’t stop him.”

Vaughn also found a wrinkle to stop teams from doubling LeVert, using him in post-ups. That could open things up for Durant and Irving next season.

“Purposefully done,’’ Vaughn said. “Something that Caris has been working and something that we did not show in the scrimmages. We worked for him to get to a sweet spot and be one bounce away from the rim but also once bounce from getting to a mid-range shot that he’s very comfortable in.”

Earlier in the season, Irving made headlines when he said it’s “glaring’’ the Nets roster needs an upgrade to get to “the next level’’ and there are reports of him seeking a third star. Maybe that star is rising in the Orlando bubble.

Vaughn wouldn’t guarantee Jamal Crawford, working his way into game shape, would make his debut against Milwaukee.

“We’ll see how he feels after [Monday’s] little session,’’ Vaughn said.
