Netflix Japan released a trailer and the Japanese cast for the original anime series Yasuke.
The main cast includes Jun Soejima as Yasuke, Takehiro Hira as Nobunaga Oda, Yoshiko Tamura as Saki, Yoshiko Sakakibara as Daimyo of Darkness, Fusako Urabe as Natsumaru, Shigeru Ushiyama as Abraham, Yu Kamio as Mamoru, Eri Kitamura as Ishikawa, Kenji Kitamura as Achoja, Shunsuke Kubozuka as Hart, Hiroki Nanami as Nikita, and Rie Tanak as Ichika.
Yasuke, which is inspired by the real-life African samurai of the same name, is set to release on April 29. MAPPA is in charge of the animation production.
LeSean Thomas (Children of Ether) is credited as director, creator, and executive producer with Takeshi Koike as character designer and Flying Lotus as music composer and executive producer.
Additional key staff includes Satsohi Iwataki as chief animator, Takeshi Sato as director chief, Junichi Higashi as art director, Azusa Sasaki as color designer, Kenichi Shima as sub-character designer, Minoru Nishida as world view and art settings designer, Ikuki Nomoto as 3DCG director, Takyashoi Park as cinematographer, and Mutsumi Takemiya as editor.
Netflix describes the series as:
In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords. The story of Yasuke, the first African samurai who actually served the legendary Oda Nobunaga, will be released to the world.
