Netflix has released a new promotional image for its upcoming live-action One Piece adaptation, which shows off Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson), and Sanji (Taz Skylar) in addition to Luffy (Iñaki Godoy). The Going Merry is also featured.

Like the previous, Luffy-only visual, the image depicts only the characters’ backs as they face the sunset. This time, Luffy has two fists in the air.

Netflix’s One Piece show is set to be released this year. It was announced to be a 10-episode series in 2020.

Steven Maeda (Pan Am) and Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Luke Cage writer) are the showrunners with Netflix, Tomorrow Studios, and Shueisha as the production companies. Owens is also the scriptwriter. Additional cast members include Peter Gadiot as Shanks, Morgan Davies as Koby, Alexander Maniatis as Klahadore, Steven Ward as Mihawk, Craig Fairbrass as Chef Zeff, Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan, Celeste Loots as Kaya, and Chioma Umeala as Nojiko. 

The Shueisha-published One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda began in 1997 and has 104 tankoubon volumes as of November 2022. The manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and published under the Jump Comics label.

The manga has inspired an anime series adaptation that began in 1999 and passed the 1000th episode mark on November 21, 2021. There have also been 15 One Piece anime movies to date, with last year’s One Piece Film Red ending its theatrical run in Japan as the country’s eighth highest-grossing film with 19.7 billion yen (~US$151.9 million). Toei Animation produces the anime.
