#Receivers to grab off waivers after Week 1

#Receivers to grab off waivers after Week 1

As any fantasy football veteran can attest, the first three weeks of the season can often be the most important when it comes to setting up your roster for the long haul. If you are new to the fantasy game, you can take this as an important lesson — everything that happened in Week 1 will cause massive overreactions and, as such, your work on the waiver wire for Weeks 2 and 3 will need to be on-point.

You don’t want to waste your waiver priority or FAAB budget on Week 1 heroes who are unlikely to produce moving forward, especially when you will see knee-jerk player drops that will prove to be must-adds after next week’s action.

Obviously, we cannot predict which players the buffoons in your league will drop, so simply write yourself a note to track all of the drops that occur on waivers this week. We can check in on that list next week. In the meantime, we can look at a few players who may be available in your league and have the promise and upside of continuing their strong Week 1 performances. The wide receiver position is loaded with them.

Don’t let the early snap-count or the number of targets A.J. Green saw fool you. He is not going to be the Cardinals No. 2 receiver unless we all hop into a time machine and go back to 2015. What you witnessed from Christian Kirk is much more likely to continue, moving forward in Arizona. The fourth-year wideout has worked on his rapport and timing with Kyler Murray, earned the trust of his coaches and will soon be the second-most targeted receiver in this offense.

You can also look towards an increased workload for Zach Pascal of the Colts. The expectation was that Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell would be the X- and Y-receivers while Pascal would work primarily out of the slot. Unfortunately, Campbell’s inexperience saw him with a lower snap-count and it was Pascal on the field during two-receiver sets. Pascal also bonded well with Carson Wentz prior to the quarterback’s foot injury, and the two have simply picked up where they left off.

The Rams’ Van Jefferson and Saints’ wide receiver/tight end hybrid Juwan Johnson both have a lot of promise moving forward, so unless your roster was decimated by injuries, grabbing one of these receivers should suffice.

Remember not to go too crazy with your add/drops this week. Let others make those mistakes while you prepare for Week 3 and your next step towards domination.
