“Queen’s Orders OVA Debuts on May 10, Previews Character Song PV”

The upcoming Azur Lane: Queen’s Orders OVA special will be released on Blu-ray in Japan on May 10, 2023. The anime will be split into two parts that add up to a total runtime of 48 minutes. 

A new character song PV trailer has also been released to promote the OVA. The new song is performed by Queen Elizabeth voice actress Sumire Uesaka, who also performs the OVA’s opening song “Bloomin.’” 

Aside from Uesaka, who also voices Warspite, the voice cast of Azur Lane: Queen’s Orders consists of Yui Horie as Belfast, Asuka Nishi as Valiant, Rumi Ookubo as Kisaragi, and Akari Uehara as Suffolk, 

Meanwhile, the production staff includes Yoshi Yamashita as series screenwriter, Katsuzou Hirata (Mieruko-chan), Kana Niimura, and Masahide Yanagisawa (Citrus) as character designers, and Osamu Tayama (Scarlet Nexus) as art director. Yostar Pictures is handling the animation production for the OVA. 

Other staff members include Toshiyuki Sakakieda (Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story) as art designer, Michio Kaku (Manaria Friends) as color designer, and Xiaomu Yang (Record of Ragnarok II) as photography director. Daisuke Horita (Sorairo Utility) is handling the music composition and sound editing for the series. 

Azur Lane: Queen’s Orders adapts the manga of the same name by Tsuchii, which was first serialized in Comic REX magazine on October 26, 2018. The series is described as a slapstick slice of life story that follows the character Queen Elizabeth and her friend, Warspite. 

The Azur Lane franchise has already inspired a television anime series from Bibury Animation Studios that aired from October 3, 2019 to March 20, 2020.

Another short anime spinoff series titled Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! aired from January 12, 2021 to March 30, 2021. It is based on a four-panel manga spinoff by Hori. CANDYBOX and Yostar Pictures handled the animation production for the series. Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Japan. 

Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan with English subtitles, before being moved to Crunchyroll after the Sony merger. The first season is described as: 

Azur Lane, a combination of all the different Camps in the world, was once successful in repelling the underwater menace, the Siren. Now splintered, they must face a new threat in Red Axis, former allies who crave to wield this otherworldly Siren technology for their own nefarious desires! Who will be victorious in the never-ending war between these battleship girls!?
